Moynalvey defeated Gaeil Colmcille in the Intermediate Football Championship decider late in the second half after a strong battle at Pairc Tailteann to claim a first title at the level since 1983.

This was a fine match between the two sides who both gave it there all through the full 70+mins. There was not one bit of dirty play throughout the whole game with the referee – Donal Smith of Navan O’Mahony’s allowing a free flowing match. Moynalvey struggled in the first half been a mere 8 points down at one stage but bringing the lead of 8 points back down to 4 points entering the dressing room at half time.
Moynalvey came out all guns blazing in the second half with the belief that this wasn’t out of the reach and ready to push on and challenge the Gaeil Colmcille side for the title of been county champions.
